Evening, my good comrades! As part of my 2019 goals to be more organized with my posting schedule, I’ve decided to participate in Top Ten Tuesday! As you all probably know by now, Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly theme created by The Broke and The Bookish in 2010 and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in 2018.
For today, the topic was Most Anticipated Releases for the First Half of 2019. But because there’s just way too many books I’m looking forward to coming out this year, I’ve decided to divide this post into quarters. So today, I’ll be talking about my Most Anticipated Releases for January, February, and March.
☕ The Wicked King by Holly Black – While I do have a ton of mixed feelings about the romance in the first book, I did like everything else The Cruel Prince had to offer, so I’m excited to see what happens next!
☕ The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi – Honestly at this point, if you haven’t seen this book yet, what rock have you been hiding under? Time to come out and smell the new pages!
☕ Kingdom of Copper by S.A. Chakraborty – Am I ready to have my heart broken and my soul crushed? Absolutely not, but I’m going to read this anyway! (If you haven’t read the first book City of Brass yet, what on earth are you waiting for?)
☕ The Love & Lies of Rukhsana Ali by Sabina Khan – I’m a sucker for coming-of-age stories that explore the intersection of love, culture, identity, and growing up, so I feel like this read will be right up my alley!
☕ Four Dead Queens by Astrid Scholte – Sci-fi and a murder mystery? I am all over this like white on rice.
☕ Enchantée by Gita Trelease – Paris in the age of romanticism, magicians, death, and a revolution. That sounds like a winning formula for a compelling, poetic writing to me!
☕ On the Come Up by Angie Thomas – Wanna know a secret? I haven’t read The Hate U Give yet. I know, I know, I am utter trash. However, I will work on rectifying that this year, along with reading Angie’s new book!
☕ We Set the Dark on Fire by Tehlor Kay Mejia – This sounds like a fantasy non-horror more nuanced retelling of The Stepford Wives, crossed over with a spy/rebel movie. Super excited for this book!
☕ The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon – Some old school high fantasy featuring queens, magic, and dragons. Who wouldn’t want to read this?
☕ The Shadow Glass by Rin Chupeco – The Bone Witch and The Heart Forger were, beyond any doubt, two of my absolute favorite reads from 2018. I was fortunate enough to get an ARC from Rin for the last book in this trilogy and I can’t wait to read it!
☕ Internment by Samira Ahmed – If you read the premise of this book and think, ”Oh, that could never happen?” it’s time to wake up, dear. America has imprisoned people on an ethnic/cultural basis before, and America is doing it now once more. This book is relevant, important, and absolutely needs to be read by everyone.
☕ The Fever King by Victoria Lee – Urban fantasy plus a social commentary on undocumented immigrants? GIMME. (Also, by all accounts, Victoria Lee is apparently really nice and interactive on Twitter!)
What about you guys?
